1600.  Benjamin Ames Kimball 8 (Benjamin 7, John 6, Joseph 5, John 4, Caleb 3, Richard 2, Richard 1) born in Boscawen, August 22, 1833; married Jan. 19, 1861, Myra Tilton Elliott, daughter of Ira and Rhoda (Ames) Elliott of Sanbornton, NH.  He was graduated with honors from the Chandler Scientific School of Dartmouth College in July, 1854, receiving the degree of B.S.  In Aug., 1854, he entered the service of the Concord RR as draftsman, and was promoted in April, 1856, to be foreman of the locomotive department.  On the first of Jan., 1858, he succeeded his brother John as master mechanic, a position which he held until April 1, 1865, when he resigned to become a member of the firm of Ford and Kimball, manufacturers of car wheels and brass and iron founders.  He long carried on this business successfully.  In 1870 he was elected a member of the house of representatives, and declined reelection in 1871.  He was appointed in 1870 a member of a special committee appointed by the city council of Concord to procure plans for an aqueduct from Long Pond for the water supply of the city.  In 1872 he was appointed a member of the water commissioners to construct the works upon the plans submitted by the committee.  He was in the board for six years, and was its president for three years.  In 1876 he was a member of the constitutional convention.  He was president and trustee of the Concord Savings Bank, trustee of the Merrimack County Savings Bank, and director of the Mechanicks National Bank from its organization and is now its president.  He was elected a director of the Concord RR in Jan., 1879.  He has been very prominent in the affairs of the road, and had great influence in the negotiations which led to the consolidation of the road with the Boston & Main system.  In Nov., 1884, he was chosen on the governor's council for two years.  In 1887 he was appointed by the governor one of the committee from New Hampshire to the celebration of the hundredth anniversary of the adoption of the constitution of the United States at Philadelphia, Pa.  His whole life has been devoted to industries and enterprises which are the source of general prosperity.  He resides in Concord, NH.
