The Lady of the Lake. The Lady of the Lake was a steamboat that the Concord & Montreal Railroad purchased after it's first run on the Lake Winnipesaukee waters. Once the fastest and most popular boat on the lake it soon lost water when the Boston & Maine built the Mount Washington specifically for the lake to gain the tourist trade away from its competitor. Article from Follow the Mount, Lake Winnipesaukee, NH Revised Edition, Bruce D Heald, 1970, pages 33-35 Link to Article on history of Mt. Washington's rise to prominence over the Lady of the Lake.
